“Bird Lives” Knoxville Orchestra -ft Charles McPherson -John Beasley conductor & arranger

April 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

To mark Charlie ‘Bird’ Parker’s centennial in 2020, award-winning co-conductors and co-arrangers John Beasley (pianist) and Magnus Lindgren (saxophonist) came together to reimagine some of Parker’s music for big band with a string orchestra in an album called “Bird Lives.”

The project earned Beasley a GRAMMY award at this year’s ceremony, and this KJO performance will be the live concert premiere of the material in the United States. Internationally acclaimed saxophone legend Charles McPherson (who was also featured on the recording) will join Beasley and the KJO to help bring the music to life. An event not to be missed!

8:00pm – Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay St., Knoxville, Tennessee
